Risk Management & Mitigation

There will always be risks.  How we manage them and provision for potential outcomes is the key.  Thorough planning and mutual commitment to open communications between all parties throughout the complete project lifecycle are the foundations to managing the risks.

Project Risk

Project Budgets:  Budgets have varied significantly depending upon size and complexity of environment.  For events that have required the most detailed project-management attention, budgets have ranged between $1M and $5+M when complete relationship lifecycle is taken into consideration.

Project Teams:  Project-team sizes have also varied significantly depending upon size and complexity of environment.  In the larger projects, where overall coordination included multiple PM teams, total team sizes can range from 15-25 members, not including external senior-management reports.

Given the option, it is preferable to be in the primary-point-person position to ensure the appropriate levels of planning and communications are maintained.  Every project can be successful when these fundaments are adhered to and properly coordinated.

RFP Experience

Authoring:  Authoring a qualified RFP demands the requisite detail to ensure a streamlined evaluation process.  The response process must be understood and anticipated to mitigate the question/clarification/adjustment process and avoid lengthy delays that can extend the calendar and compromise the ability to complete a project within projected timelines and budgets.

The majority of my involvement in the authoring process has been consultative in support of defining technical-specification requirements; responding to questions; assessing/evaluating responses and making recommendations; and, in some cases, taking a leadership role in facilitating the subsequent implementation.

Response:  From a response perspective, my experience is comprehensive.  Breadth of subject matter expertise has consistently position me as a key response participant and leader.  Over the years, my involvement has been required in approximately 70-80 RFPs.  Based on the representative projects highlighted under Project Background, a high level of complexity can be assumed in many of the responses.
